After a long career in education and the arts, I trained to teach yoga with Vanda Scaravelli-inspired teachers in the nineties and taught yoga at Greenwich Dance Agency for many years.
When I first discovered Pilates it seemed to combine all my past movement experiences into a gentle but stimulating new challenge that dovetailed beautifully with my yoga training. Through my movement experience, I have seen the benefits that a connection between the body, mind, and breath can bring. I love the feeling of well-being, strength, flexibility, and balance that Pilates gives to me, and I am enthusiastic to share this with others.
In 2002, I trained as a Pilates teacher at Trinity Laban in matwork and studio practice. I taught the adult Pilates matwork classes at Trinity Laban and taught in the studio until it closed in 2013. I have also been a guest lecturer on the true benefits of ‘pilates and the older client’ on a number of training courses.
Ann is an experienced and professional instructor and always has her client's best interest at heart. Her commitment and positive approach to how effective Pilates can be is inspiring and she is always attentive to her client's achieving their individual goals. It means that I always come away from my sessions with Ann feeling uplifted, re-energised and full of hope and optimism about what my body is capable of.
I first came to Ann's Pilates class during the later stages of the pandemic and for a considerable period my classes were on a 1-1 basis. This proved to be ideal for me as although I had been doing Pilates elsewhere for some time the increased personal attention benefitted me greatly. Ann is a very attentive teacher who monitors your work carefully. I learnt that for me, 'less is more' and that it is preferable to do fewer repetitions accurately than more, with less attention. Ann has also encouraged me to be more aware of what exercise would be best for how my body is feeling on that day, and I now feel much more confident about this. My classes are now 2-1, which Ann is able to manage with virtually as much individual attention as previously. She is expert is finding ways of monitoring me via the mirrors when apparently focussing on my classmate. I am very happy to be working with Ann, who is friendly, caring, meticulous and supportive in every way, and I intend to continue for as long as possible
Ann is so much more than a Pilates Instructor. She sees bodies with such lucid insight, so sessions have a chiropractic quality as well as healing benefits. She skilfully sequences the sessions with flow and care, so you come out feeling transformed.
